Where were you? I ask.

I was at work. You say

The unconscious shoulder shrug says otherwise.

Who works on Christmas? I press further.

I am a stock broker!  You insist.

The slight smile is another indicator.

You were with him right? I need confirmation.

How can you say that? You react.

Shock lasting more than a second. Not good.

Why would you even think that? Even more.

The taken aback is too much for me

I knew things were wrong

When the black mirror on flashed the words

“wish you were here”

I was watching Lie To Me all day long instead of getting my assignments done. *nervous laughs* This poem is the result of that. Don’t forget to check out poetryhive on instagram for the prompts
